I am going to let my techs who have exp. in sales do sales for the company. We are going to do a commission on sighned contracts. What is the proper percentage.
The techs make 15.00 per hr pay. + .50c a mile. |

That's a pretty loaded question. We have never had commissioned salespeople, so I can't give an informed opinion on the numbers involved. I would suggest that your techs won't be true "salespeople" unless their schedules permit them at least one day a week or so to do strictly sales (you wouldn't want techs in "tech clothing" making in-person sales calls, would you?), so maybe you could start with a referral/reward system for new account leads generated by your techs that you close and retain for at least, say, six months or a year. Just my opinion...I'm sure others will have more informed comments. But to my way of thinking, a combination salesperson/technician is going to be inclined to neglect one or the other in favor of the preferred type of work, which is not a Good Thing.
