What exposure/light are we talking. How much actual space in that window sill, and on the floor, what are the fire codes? |

| LOL I'll have to check that - These are POTENTIAL clients - and I have not checked fire codes yet. Lighting for all is mix of ambient and florescent/halogen spot the third one is high-traffic but these are areas where the potential client said what would you do here. I'm afraid, in a way to answer b/cause I don't wnat them to do it and NOT hire me. | |

Lunch tables are way too small and busy surfaces for plants...maybe bud vases of mini carnations and greens changed out weekly. But they are likely to be toppled or "borrowed".
Also, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) regulations prohibit things in places like corridors and stairways/landings if they might interfere with the passage of pedestrian traffic, especially blind/disabled people. So in addition to likely fire regs against doing that, the feds also frown on it. The console table looks like a good place for a row of three tall cylinders or squares with orchids or bromeliads or ZZ plants. Put your check with my design fee in the mail ASAP, would you? Clem |

No offense taken...just kidding.
I would do something like adhering the bud vases to the tables using Command Adhesive strips or florists' "Cling" adhesive putty to keep them from tipping over (or walking off). Clem |

I would try to convince the client to forget something on the tables and put ivory color cubicos between the etched signs in the glass. Would warm it up and prevent people from accidently running into the glass. Maybe ZZ's or Sansevieria Black Coral in the Cubcicos and white poly rocks
Agree with the orchid container or bromeliad mixed color bowl on the table with cool sticks and colored glass as a top dress Nothing on stairs-no space. great place for artwork |

I like the idea of cubicos. Another idea would be three 30" Optimum rectangle in silver with 1' Sanseveria Zeylanica. The color bowl for the table is nice, but you may want to consider a tall square instead with bromeliads or orchids etc. The stair landing is tricky, but I suggest something in a stand such as a Tier two round with a 2' Sanseveria Black Coral.

The stairwell planter is a no-no...both local fire regs and Americans With Disabilities Act regs prohibit such obstructions in passageways.

Depending on fire codes, the landing would look nice with rectangular container of your choice with vertical sanseverias...simple maintenance, not in traffic path and they would grow to be fantastic specimens. Or a simple Cham Falcefera tucked in the corner would not take up too much space and be in keeping with the old architecture of the building.
The scale of the hall table is such that you would have to be careful that containers/plants would fit the space. Light looks very low and periodic change outs would have to be allowed for. And they still need something on the wall above. |
