Just curious if anyone had any good recommendations.

"The Healthy Indoor Plant" by Rosemarie Rossetti and Charles C. Powell.  Get it on Amazon.  A wonderful, practical book that is a complete course in interiorscaping maintenance in one volume.

I cannot recommend a book but maybe a strategy.
I cannot over emphasize the importance of a good grounding in the basic sciences of plants - how they are structured, how they obtain and process nutrients, how they develop etc.
Then there is soil - physical and chemical properties.
Simultaneously  it is necessary to build a knowledge base of plant groups, and ultimately, individual plants, by practice and familiarity.
Allow me to share a rueful experience. The ZZ plant was identified to me as Zamia and I mentally grouped it with the 'Cardboard palm'! What a boo boo!!
I was fortunate to obtain the science long ago and far away. Half way through my  working life I emigrated and did a "crash course" on the unfamiliar plants and even more unfamiliar, potting media. It was time and money well spent.
Above all, nothing trumps keeping up to date. Allocate 15 minutes each day to read something new and relevant on the subject and you will find motivation.
And when it comes to recalling what you know; that is easy.
You are on your own!
They tell me that I have a warped sense of humor.

Clem - Thanks! I'll see if I can check it out at the public library first.

Ron - We already learned the science of soil and a basic plant science in my program. We even learned of different planting media. I'm still trying to get into the habit of checking interiorscaping resources daily. I enjoy checking this site and others so it won't be much longer till it's habit. I look forward to absorbing more knowledge from you guys. Thanks!

Not to toot my own horn but what the heck. I wrote a book called Green Plant Care Tips for Techs that will teach you the basics of indoor plant care.  It's available on my website at www.JFAConsultingBiz.com, along with a lot of other good resources and a chance to subscribe to our free monthly magazine.  You can also order the book through Amazon.com.  Best of luck,

"We already learned".
I used to think so myself; until a mentor advised us, "You did not learn anything here! From now on, as you go out into the field, you will learn."

Kathy - Thanks!
Ron - But I did learn while in school. Otherwise, I wouldn't have passed my classes. But I get your point. You're always learning.
